1/26/11 Opie & Anthony Show Rundown: State Of The Union, Taxes, Gays In Military; Gadget Tax; Big A & The News; Tom Papa, Jerry Springer, Olivia Munn in Studio


First hour:


They talk a little about another snowstorm heading to NYC and the northeast and they talk a little about global warming and climate stuff.


they check out a news clip of a commuter train door which didn't close on a trip; they wonder why this is news.


They talk about the President's State Of The Union speech last night which Ant hated. Among other things they bring up a seat that was left open as a symbolic gesture for the Congresswoman who was shot a few weeks ago.


Opie brings up ushers who save seats for people who tip them.


They go back to the State Of The Union and the Congresswoman's shooting and the politics behind it.

tells them about his dad taking him to ballgames and tipping ushers to let them sit in really great seats which weren't being used.

They talk about a new proposed law in NY which would ban pedestrians from using their phones and other gadgets while crossing streets.


they have trouble hearing him at first because he didn't turn the volume down on the radio and there was an echo. After he turns down his radio he tells them that where his lives in Canada they passed new laws about distracted diving.


says that he got pulled over in Florida for riding his bike with earphones.


says they're trying to make laws like there when he is.


brings up the woman they talked about yesterday who was busy texting and fell into a mall fountain.


a cop who tells them a few stories about pulling people over.


Ant wonders about a new 'move over' law which requires motorists to move over a lane if possible.

They mention a proposed fee of $10 to get into lower Manhattan.


They talk a little about Cher's kids and about some of their guests coming up today.


They call Big A into the studio and ask him about his weight loss and his job. Big A then does the news.

says that he loves the Big A news bit but feels like a dirtbag for laughing at it.


Tom Papa has joined them in the studio. He tells them about doing the old Conan show in NYC and they talk about a change of scenery. They plug a benefit for Greg Giraldo's family that Tom is doing with Jimmy and many other comedians.


Third hour:


Tom and Ant talk about giving away too much of their money for taxes. Tom brings up people who get paid well to do highly skilled jobs but media complaining about it.


the news again covering the story of the train door which didn't close.


Tom brings up a recent video of a guy who laid down to film a train running over him. Tom's show, Marriage Ref, is brought up and they get into talking and goofing around about Tracey Morgan, Ricky Gervais, and Colin Quinn. They goof on lesser-known halves of duos such as the-guy-who-wasn't-Tom-Hanks in Bosom Buddies.


claims that guy does commercials on Sirius XM for dick enlargement stuff. They look it up.


They talk about Tom Hanks and more about the other guy.

They talk more about Colin Quinn and his Broadway show.

They bring up the Greg Giraldo benefit and talk about how weird it is seeing his old stuff on TV.


Tom gets into talking a little about mean old people and then they talk a little about some Oscar movies. They talk about Jerry Springer while they wait for him to join them.


Fourth hour:


Jerry Springer enters. They talk about his TV show which has been going on for 20 years now. Opie asks him when he stopped aging because he looks great for his age. He is asked about a new dating show that he does on the GSN TV channel. They talk more about his other show for a while.

Opie brings up Jerry's short stint as host of America's Got Talent and they talk about a few people who were on it recently. Opie suggests that Jerry be the replacement for Regis. Ant asks if Jerry has any plans to retire. They talk a little more about Jerry's show, his long marriage, and Ant tells Jerry and Tom about wrecking his car two days ago. They do some plugs and say bye to Jerry.

Olivia Munn joins them in the studio. She says that she is excited to be there and that they are famous. Jimmy says that she smells great and they talk a little about hygiene and goof around. They talk for a while about her recent front cover pic on Maxim magazine:




She tells them about a new movie she's doing and Ant and Jimmy both hit on her. Tom has to leave so he says bye and they plug some of his stuff. They talk more with her and she tells them some things about her personal life and former boyfriends and dating and her homelife. She mentions her new TV show on NBC and she talks about having anxiety. Ant tells her about his car crash.
